August 1879 in Hongs\u014fng, Provinz S\u00fcd-Ch&#8217;ungch&#8217;\u014fn; \u2020 29. Juni 1944 in Seoul) war ein koreanischer Lyriker, politischer Aktivist und Reformist des modernen Buddhismus.<\/p>\n<p>Han Yong-un lernte als Kind die chinesischen Klassiker in einer konfuzianischen Dorfschule (S\u014fdang) und wendete sich bereits in jungen Jahren dem geistlichen Leben zu. Im Alter von 26 Jahren trat er in den buddhistischen M\u00f6nchsorden des Paektam-Tempels ein, wo er sowohl buddhistische Texte als auch moderne Philosophie studierte und ein asketisches Dasein f\u00fchrte.<\/p>\n<p>Han geh\u00f6rt zu den Repr\u00e4sentanten der Unabh\u00e4ngigkeitserkl\u00e4rung, die bei der Bewegung des ersten M\u00e4rz 1919 proklamiert wurde. Nach den Protesten gegen die japanische Kolonialregierung wurde er festgenommen und erhielt eine Haftstrafe von sieben Jahren. Nach drei Jahren wurde er in die Freiheit entlassen. Trotz Unterdr\u00fcckung seitens der Kolonialregierung spielte er weiterhin eine wichtige Rolle bei verschiedenen B\u00fcrgerbewegungen, buddhistischen Bewegungen oder B\u00fcndnissen.<\/p>\n<p>Zeit seines Lebens setzte sich Han Yong-un f\u00fcr Reformen im koreanischen Buddhismus ein. Seine Werke \u00dcber die Revitalisierung des koreanischen Buddhismus (\uc870\uc120\ubd88\uad50\uc720\uc2e0\ub860) (1913) und Entwurf zur Reformierung des koreanischen Buddhismus (\uc870\uc120 \ubd88\uad50\uc758 \uac1c\ud601\uc548) (1931) befassen sich mit konkreten Vorschl\u00e4gen wie z. B. einer zentralen Organisation des Buddhismus und betonen die Notwendigkeit eines popul\u00e4ren Buddhismus f\u00fcr den koreanischen Geist.<\/p>\n<p>Han verfasste zahlreiche Gedichte auf Chinesisch und Koreanisch. Zu seinen bekanntesten Gedichten geh\u00f6rt Das Schweigen des Geliebten (\ub2d8\uc758 \uce68\ubb35). Meist wurde das Gedicht dahingehend interpretiert, dass es sich bei dem Geliebten nicht um eine konkrete Person, sondern um das Vaterland handelt. Die letzten zehn Lebensjahre verbrachte Han Young-un in Seoul, wo er 1944 starb.
